On top of the mad dash to finishing the house, I finally completed my current embroidery project! I showed you a sneak peek here. And here it is in full - Meg Hawkey of Crabapple Hill Studio's “Halloween Journey”.
Meg’s finished piece was matted and framed. I think I will make mine into a quilted wall hanging. I thought I would pull the colors from the poem and make a “piano style” border. What do you think? It would be fast and easy to sew lengths of 1 ½ or 2 ½ ” strips in those colors together, then slice them up for a neat border, but I’m open to any suggestions!
Mr. Squash and I felt we deserved a little time out of the house, so we headed to the mall yesterday afternoon to spend his birthday gift from his sister and her husband - an REI gift certificate! He told her he was going to buy socks with it. She probably thought he was joking, but here is the haul! And I bought socks as well! We LOVE Smartwool socks! They keep your feet warm and cozy and aren’t at all bulky! I wear them into early summer when I finally trade them out for sandals.
Now that the pressure of getting our house ready to sell is off, I hope to have more time to work on embroidery and quilt projects! I'll be keeping them small so as not to make a mess, but the urge to create is back on - yipppeee!

Oh, I love your Halloween projrct! What a great wall hanging it will make, you should let us take a look at your listing, minus the price because that is private, but it would be fun to see it, before you more on to greener pastures!!Best of luck selling!!
I like the idea of the piano key border. The stitchery is darling. Don't you just love Meg's patterns? Good luck with the sale of the house. Can we see a picture?
Socks are good, socks are warm, socks are a necessity and above all - YOU'VE got SOCKS...lol
The piano border is a good thought.
Have a terrific Monday.
Your stitchery turned out so nice, and your border idea will make it sparkle. A big thumb's up on the smartwool socks, they are the best. They are so warm, not itchy, durable... OK I love em too... Good luck on selling your home.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your Halloween stitching project! That has to be my all time favorite of all from all that I've seen and done myself. I think it would look smashing as a wall hanging quilt.
Hope your house sells quickly.
Whooo whooo... you're done! Don't turn around, or you'll find a little something to tinker with!
I adore your Halloween Journey (I love Crabapple Hill too). I think a piano keys border would be *smashing, especially in the same colors as your floss.
*said with a British accent. In my head it sounded good.
smartwools are the best, I agree!
I was just checking out these socks last time I was in REI. Now I wish I would have purchased. Had some credit points I could have used..Next time...love your needlework project from Crabapple..I have many many of her patterns. Love her autumn ones..Luck on the house..
