Last UFO Done!

Yesterday I finally finished the top of my Fat Quarter Shop 2008 Designer Mystery BOM!!  This is the last UFO I have!  It is now ready for Vinnie - but first I need to practice a tad more...more later.
Mr. Squash is doing his best here to hold it up - his arms weren't much longer than mine!  I set the blocks in a little different order than on the pattern.  There were too many darker blocks at the end, so I mixed them up a tad differently.  I really loved working with this line - Peace on Earth by 3 Sisters for Moda.  I only wish there were more leftovers so I could make some matching pillowcases!
Here it is spread out across our bed.
My next project is Lil's Simpler Tymes Quilt by Jeanne Horton.  It is a reproduction of a quilt her mother, Lil, had as baby!  Jeanne also designed the fabric for the line.  Jeanne owns a wonderful quilt store called the Country Sampler in Spring Green, Wisconsin.  I love everything about this shop and hope to someday visit in person!

Practice on Vinnie is going great!  I am now watching the videos I ordered from Pam Clarke.  They are perfect for the way my brain thinks!  She has this great idea of copying pages from her accompanying workbooks, unthreading your needle and bobbin, and stitching over the pages as practice - works great!  I'm not quite ready to load a real quilt, but will be soon!

That is quite a statement to be able to make "your last UFO". So when you get to the last what do you do next? I doubt I will ever get to the last because I am always thinking ahead of myself and lots of projects started so I can project hop to my hearts desire. I do have 3 quilts ready to bind though right now because I have been practicing my free motion quilting. I think I have gone from kindergarten to first grade with it.

Have fun searching for your next project!

Your quilt top looks great on your bed and I am sure the quilting will make the quilt just shine.

That's a beauty! I'm impressed that you now have only PIGs and WIPs! Hope to say the same myself by the end of this year :)

Glad you're enjoying spending a lot of time with Vinnie.

I'm lucky, my quilt holders are 6' and over :)

Good grief woman....LAST UFO? What's with that? Come to my house and pick one or two up and help me finish! LOL Love your mystery quilt all finished up. I'm glad I didn't sign up for that one because it would still be sitting in the mailer it came in. Can't wait to see what you do with it on Gammi (oops, I mean Vinnie)! :)

No more UFOs? Wow...I'm not sure I'll ever be able to say that. It's a beauty. Vinnie is going to be smokin' by time you're ready to load him up!

What a beauty! Isn't it a great feeling to have NO UFO's? Congratulations, Candace!

I can't wait to see your first Vinnie quilt. I'm sure it will be gorgeous.

The quilt is lovely and the fabrics are very beautiful. Your new project looks great too, I think you will finish the top in no time just to get to the quilting.

You may never have UFOs again. You will be so anxious to finish them so that you can have a quilting date with Vinnie!

Thank you for sharing your quilt made with Peace on Earth. I have that line set aside for a new Christmas quilt. Also have the Simpler Thymes kit which I purchased last year at BB. Love that place. I am so tempted to start it now but alas unlike you I have numerous UFOs..I am trying very hard to stay on task with finishing them..As Vinnie goes..practice is the ticket

Your final UFO is beautiful. :-)

I hope that one day you'll have the opportunity to visit The Country Sampler. When a friend and I visited we had to have Jeanne ship our purchases home for us. LOL

Can I send about 5 or 10 UFO's to you? I'm impressed that you are done. I'm concentrating on finishing one UFO a year....and I thought that was good! Love your quilt top and I'm sure you will do a fabulous job on the quilting!

Congratulations on getting your last UFO done! It's a beauty too. I have the 2009 FQS Mystery Quilt - I haven't even started it. I guess it's now considered a kit.

You know we're all going "No UFOs?". You really do need to start 4,469 projects in the next few days to make us all feel better! :)

LOVE the quilt!! You did a beautiful job on it. I've been knee deep in bib making, but I'm needing to get back to some type of quilt making, soon. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful quilt top, Candace... What does "last UFO" mean? I'm unfamiliar with that concept...
I really like the idea of practicing on Vinnie w/out thread...
Have a great one...

Oh my goodness, Candace. I like the "Peace on Earth" fabrics so I really like this quilt.

You are a girl on a mission - practicing and getting to know Vinnie - in the most personal way...LOL
