Pink, Anyone?

Finally we've had a cool-down here in the PNW! Our local meteorologist explained that last Wednesday our temps were higher here than in Phoenix or Tucson! Now that's hot!

About all I managed to work on during the week was Bunny Hill's "A Tisket A Tasket" free block of the month. I'm daring-to-be-different by doing them in "Pinkwork". I used a pale pink fabric and stitched with brown thread. Here are the first two completed blocks. I'm using the new Cosmo embroidery thread that comes two threads together, wound on a spool. The jury is still out on whether I like this thread better than DMC. I will say it's wonderful to not have to separate strands!

I found a great bag of mixed brown buttons at Pacific Fabrics for only $3.99! There is enough variety of buttons to finish all twelve blocks! The rest are prepped and ready to stitch, so it shouldn't take long to get them done. I'm thinking of finishing the quilt in either pale pastels, or browns and creams.

We had a showing of our house yesterday! It's funny because I had begun to let my guard down on keeping the house absolutely pristine at all times. It becomes a real drag making sure that everything is perfect day after day - especially since we've been doing it every day since February! Well wouldn't you know the minute I do that, we get a showing! We're hoping for feedback any moment now!

Oh....so...delicate and pretty! I enlarged the pic to see it better. Yum. Everything is still crossed for your house sale.

I love the idea of pink and brown together in embroidery. It's such an interesting way to combine something that is so traditional with something a little bit more contemporary. Kudos to you. Can't wait to see the final result.

You'll get good feedback and things will start to happen!

Love the brown embroidery on the pale pink - so cute! I have a pink and brown quilt read to cut out once I quit putting other projects ahead of it.
Good luck with the house lookers.

Great color combination, Candace.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these people are the buyers. If they aren't, here's my advice...stop making the bed, leave dirty dishes in the sink, don't clean the bathtub ring and forget to take out the trash. Then your phone will start ringing off the hook with people wanting to see your house in five minutes!

Lovely choice of fabric and thread! I hope the cosiness of the not completely pristine house convinced the potential buyers.

I like that color combo. I'm doing the appliques of the baskets - and enjoying it- I almost have the second one finished.

Good luck on the house--things do seem to be improving. I can't imagine having to keep the house perfect--

BTW, who could not love pink!

I like the light pink background and the brown thread. I think it will look great in a quilt with the same colors! Keep us posted on how the showing went. If a house that looks like someone actually lives there gets you a showing, then let it stay that way!

Candace - I'm so glad to hear that you've had a showing . . . . I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the feedback is just what you're hoping for. Every day there are little signs that things in the economy are getting better. I think this is one of them *S*
I love your color-scheme for the embroidery piece. Take a stitch or two for me.

Pink and brown is a great combination and love the buttons.

I like your blocks, I love brown and pink together. Very chic!

Last time I was selling / showing a house, I had to give up potty training my 3-year-old. It just figures that nothing happens for months, and as you said, the minute you get on with life, the phone rings!

Love the pink and brown....I haven't started my blocks yet but I think that I am going to do a white and brown embroidery with brown/white polka dot sashings with brown and white toile. Hope the house showing brings about an offer.
Hugs, Barb

Pink & brown, love it, very retro!
Sorry about the heat-it's 100 plus mid teens in Phx! Hope the house sells SOON.

Ooooh... I love our brown and pink, Candace! Even more... I love that we're both working on the same project. How fun would it be to have a setting sewing party weekend retreat when we're all done. SERIOUSLY! The wheels are turning in my head.
