Dance of the Purple Finch

Last evening while eating dinner we saw the first purple finch of the season. I heard them singing outside my bedroom window in the early morning, which is a sign they are getting ready to mate.

Actually, what we first saw was a very fat female finch. She was resting on a telephone wire. Mr. Finch swooped down with a bit of nesting material in his mouth. He laid it at her feet (which promptly fell to the ground), then opened his mouth to sing and did a crazy little hop up and down on the wire. She seemed smitten, then another purple finch flew in and off they all went! It’s nice to see the Purple Finches back this year - they seemed to have vacationed elsewhere last year!

I don’t have any quilting or sewing news today, so I’ll leave you with a photo that was sent to me yesterday from a co-worker of her youngest grandchild. She said mom thought the older kids were watching him on Easter Sunday - apparently not!

Priceless photo! I remember my sister's children having incidents with baby powder once and chocolate frosting another time.

Love birds. We've purchased a bird book everywhere we've lived.

What a beautiful little bird. We get the yellow ones, the blue ones, and the red ones here. I need to get my birdfeeder back out for them.

I now consider myself lucky, never to have found my son IN the toilet!

What a beautiful birdie... I've never seen one of those. I miss the blue jays that were in our big tree out back the first year we lived here.

Purple Finches are great little birds too.
That picture is funny. Kids do the silliest things and it amazing how fast they can be. You think you know where they are and bam! they are doing something to get into trouble or scare you half to death.
